Soy Pork Chops

    A one-of-a-kind dish that makes the most of both sweet and savoury tastes, this marinated pork chops recipe is simply mouth-watering and perfect for braaing or oven baking. Here, soy sauce coupled with orange marmalade results in a winning team that brings out the best of the pork while adding some extra flavour too. Be sure to marinate overnight for the best results. Serve with potatoes and bean salad on the side. Serves: 6

  • Ingredients:

    250 ml Rhodes Sweet Orange Marmalade
    115 g Rhodes Tomato Paste
    ½ tsp. black pepper

    1 tsp. ground ginger
    500 ml warm water
    80 ml lemon juice

    125 ml soy sauce
    6–8 pork chops
    1 tsp. salt

  • Method:

    1. Place the water, Rhodes Tomato Paste, Rhodes Sweet Orange Marmalade, soy sauce, lemon juice, salt, pepper and ginger in a large bowl and mix well.
    2. Add the pork chops and marinate overnight.
    3. Preheat oven to 180°C.
    4. Cook the chops in the marinade until just tender, about 20–35 minutes, turning once.
    5. To braai, remove chops from the marinade and braai over medium coals until thoroughly cooked and golden brown, basting occasionally with the marinade.
    6. Serve with bean salad and lemon slices.
